An individual who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children who were nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight children and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the judicial center on recently.
Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer program which he operated.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to consume candy "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated Ruben had been able to explain this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, for good reason.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said materials including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepchild notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the man proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the situation.
Mrs Prior stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities a second time.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
